about

Creating music is a form of prayer. It can be joyous, sad, contemplative, funny, sweet, but the real magic of music is that it can take ALL of our experience, the good and the bad, and channel it into something transformative. Music can touch our deepest pain and our deepest joy, and remind us that it’s all OK.

The compositions on “Be Still” began as a Lent practice for band leader Scott Coulter - a series of meditations on the nature of the spiritual life. Initially envisioned as a private practice, everything changed when the world went into quarantine. As the music community saw itself shut down, Scott decided to reach out to fellow musicians across the country to record. Each musician recorded from home, and over the course of several months each track was built up layer by layer to become the album you hear today.

Joining Scott Coulter are Mark Zaleski (sax, from Boston, MA), Chris Hersch (guitar, from Boston, MA), Gavin McCauley (drums, from Philadelphia, PA), Kinyon Lanier (vocal, from Philadelphia, PA) and Brad Morse (bass, from Lafayette, CO).
